Recently, many customers have asked us a question about properties of high alumina bricks. I will answer this question in this article. High alumina bricks are a type of refractory material, and the main component of this refractory brick is Al2O3. High alumina bricks have the following characteristics:

1. Refractoriness. High-aluminum brick products are high-grade varieties in aluminum silicate refractory products, and their refractoriness increases with the increase of Al2O3 content, generally not lower than 1750-1790C. For example, corundum bricks have an Al2O3 content of more than 95% and a refractoriness of up to 1900-2000℃.

2. Refractoriness under load. Refractoriness under load of high alumina brick products decreases with increasing silica and alkali metal oxide content, but is higher than clay brick products, about 1420-1530℃. Corundum bricks with a content greater than 95% have a load softening temperature of up to 1600 °C.

3. Slag resistance. Since the aluminum oxide in the high alumina brick product is neutral and high in content, such material products are resistant to the erosion of the acid-base slag.

4. Thermal shock stability. In high-aluminum brick products, when the temperature of the refractory brick changes, stress concentration occurs due to the difference in expansion. Therefore, high-aluminum brick products have poor thermal shock stability than clay brick products, and the average number of water-cooling is only 3-5 times.

5. The reheating line changes. If the firing temperature of the high alumina brick product is sufficient, the firing time is sufficient, the volume is stable, and the reheating line changes little; otherwise, the residual shrinkage of the clay brick product occurs, which is also caused by recrystallization.

The above is high alumina refractory brick properties. Rongsheng Group supplies various types of refractory bricks, high alumina bricks, clay bricks, corundum bricks, mullite bricks, and insulation bricks, magnesia brick, carbon brick, silica brick. If you have any needs, please contact us.
